Penny, Elizabeth Jane (married name) was born in 1826 in East India Road, Poplar, London. She appears on the 1851 census for Poplar, Middlesex; 1881 for Liscard, Cheshire; 1891 for Adlestrop, as a visitor to Stanley Arnold; 1901 for Toxteth Park, Lancashire. She died in 1909 in Toxteth Park, Lancashire.
