Cuninghame

Cuninghame, Carol Jean was born 25 December 1915 in Yeovil, Somerset. Daughter of Lt. Col. Francis George Glencairn Cuningham and Violet Jessie Phipps Hornby. She married Wing Commander John Douglas Philip Watney 6 May 1950 in Sturminster, Dorset. As Carol Jean Watney, she appears on the electoral rolls for 1956-1957. She lived at Adlestrop House. She died in 2006 in Wincanton, Somerset.

Cuninghame, Lt. Col. Francis George Glencairn was born 9 August 1880. Son of Francis Goode Cuningham and Jean Elizabeth Hutton. He married Violet Jessie Phipps Hornby 9 July 1912 in St. George Hanover Square, London. He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900 and was wounded. He fought in WWI and was mentioned in dispatches. He gained the rank of Lt. Col. in the service of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. He died 14 July 1956. He is buried in the graveyard at Adlestrop. See Photographs.
